Ribbon Tree How-To

I am sure most of you are already familiar with my “Ribbon Topiary How To” post. Well, I am happy to say I have another fun ribbon project to share with you – Ribbon Trees!

You will need:

  • Straight pins
  • Styrofoam cone – I used a 9” x 4” cone
  • Ribbon – I used 1” ribbon

For the ribbon layers:

Ribbon Tree 1

  • Pin the top corner of your ribbon to the cone.
  • Insert a second pin 1/2 inch to the right of the first.

Ribbon Tree 2

  • Make a 1/2 fold and pin ribbon back, over second pin.

Ribbon Tree 3

  • Insert fourth pin 1/2 inch to the right of the fold.

Ribbon Tree 4

  • Make a 1/2 fold, pin ribbon back, over fourth pin.
  • Continue this process all the way around the cone.

For the top of the cone:

Ribbon Tree 8

  • Pin ribbon to cover the top of the cone

Ribbon Tree 9

  • Insert first pin in the center of the ribbon, allowing half of ribbon to extend past the end of the cone.

Ribbon Tree 10

  • Make 1/2 folds just as before, but place second pin on the underside of the fold.

Ribbon Tree 11

  • Bring ribbon back over and continue the process.
Here's another Ribbon Tree I made using two different sizes of ribbon. If you decide to give these Ribbon Trees a try, I'd love for you to let me know how they turn out!
